There is big risk in building large cofferdam on the bad soil base,and the key to prevent risk is to solve the problem of soil base.Controlling the loading rates of construction through scientific monitoring could not only prevent damaged risk,but also improve slowly the soil base.So it achieves the result of project costs reasonable and construction safe controlled.There is complementary relationship between construction and monitoring.The successful application of project monitoring in the project of Waigaoqiao Terminal(Phase 6) Wuhaogou cofferdam is an example of scientific methods solving the engineering difficulties.
