N-didodecyl D-tartrate was synthsized by esterification from D-tartaric acid and n-dodecanol.The effects of catalyst and solvent on the yield were discussed.The optimum reaction conditions were that P-toluene sulfonic acid was used as catalyst,ethanol was selected as solvent,and reaction time was 3 h.The yield was about 81% and the structure was characterized by IR.
