It is important to analyze the ion content of drilling fluid during drilling operation.The traditional analysis method is titration,however,it has certain known limitations.Two instrumental analysis methods,potentiometric analysis using ion-selective electrode and ion chromatography,are introduced and discussed here,which may be effective supplemental methods for titration.The theory,producers,application cases and conditions in drilling fluid have been reviewed and its future application prospect has been looked into.
