The lack of cultural background of English-speaking countries is one of the factors affecting English listening comp-rehension.The paper mainly discusses the influence of cultural background and the necessity of its leaning,and tentatively pro-poses that English teachers should play a positive role in introducing cultural background and enhancing students＇ awar-eness of English culture to change the status quo of using Chinese cultural background to understand English.
