异化翻译法有利于促进民族文化之间的交流，丰富本民族语言的的表达。这是翻译的核心所在。另一方面，如果在翻译中，特别是在文学翻译中如果压制语言之间本身的不同，就会剥夺异域读者以另一种方式体验陌生世界的权利，这就意味着读者永远受制于包围自己的熟悉感和习惯性。同时采用异化策略的另外一个重要内容就是抵抗式翻译，以助于保留原文的语言和文化差异，体现他者的声音。中国翻译者们应该承担起一个新的历史使命，那就是如何在翻译过程中有效地抵制西方文化霸权以保护中国文化，抵抗英美主流语言文化价值观对他者话语的凌驾，让英美读者见识乃至接受他者的价值观。值得深思的是，国外的翻译家以及报刊已经使用异化策略翻译中国文学作品以及新词了。所以，异化代表了世界翻译的总趋向。

Foreignization helps to promote the communication between different peoples, and maintains the characteristics of the source language, thus enriching the expressions of the target language, which is the essence of translation. On the other hand, to repress the intrinsic difference between languages would de- prive the readers of their chance of experiencing a new way of looking at the world others are living in, only to leave the readers in the constant familiarity and habitualization. At the same time, foreignization is advo- cated as a means of resisting the invasion of privileged culture in order to give voice to the unprivileged cul- ture. Chinese translators should take up a new historical mission, that is, how to resist western cultural he- gemony effectively in the translation process to preserve Chinese culture. Moreover, it＇ s worth thinking that foreign media and translators have begun to adopt foreiguization in their translation of Chinese literature and new words. Therefore, foreignization represents the general orientation of translation.
