社会对某专业人才的需求和评价可以从一个侧面反映该专业学科发展的现状和高校在该专业人才培养方面的综合水平。笔者不久前主持完成了一项关于“高职商务英语专业发展方向和社会需求”方面课题的研究。研究发现了一些高职商务英语专业在社会需求方面的、带有趋向性的问题。文章通过对调查结果的分析，探讨如何从满足社会需求的角度引导和调整高职商务英语学科建设和发展的相关问题。

Social demands for talented personnel and assessment of graduates in one major reflect the status quo, developmental tendency and training level of this major. Through a survey of social demands for graduates majoring in Business English and its developmental tendency in higher polytechnic colleges in Guangdong Province, the author has found some potential problems in the development of Business English Majors. Then he discusses in this article some methods or measures about how to improve and develop this maior to meet the social demands.
