Raises the concepts of caching and prefetching to reduce the continuous expansion of perfor- mance gap between CPU and I/O in computer system, and analyzes the key problems that cache prefecthing technology should be solved first. Then comes up with several typical prefetching algorithms according to the development. Analyzes the difficulties prefetching technology faces and its development trends based on current hardware and software technology.
