该区地层由一老一新组成。对一老一新地层须用不同的研究思路和工作方法。中元古界以前的地层用构造与沉积学结合方法。新地层除采用常规方法外,还采用“将今论古”的现代地层学方法。通过对新地层精细研究,尤其把上新统与更新统结合起来,首次查明了内蒙古高原隆升的时间和特点。对现代洪水沉积研究也给我们诸多的启示。

Strata in the studied area are mainly composed of contrastive old and new strata that caused us to adopt different ideas and working methods to study them respectively. The old strata prior to the Middle Proterozoic are researched by using of a combinative method of tectonics with sedimentology, while the new strata are studied by using of a recent stratigraphie method besides a conventional method. Basing on the careful study on the re- cent strata, particularly, by the combinative study of Pliocene and Pleistocene, this paper identified the time and characteristics of uplifting of Inner Mongolia plateau for the first time. In addition, it draws inspiration for studying flood deposition.
