黄声远团队于20世纪90年代初将田中央事务所设在宜兰,从此采取一种与时间做朋友的建筑在地实践方式经营宜兰区域的环境改造。从早期诗意的建构单体或复合建筑及其富有表现力的建筑形式,逐渐发展到都市尺度的地景链接,甚至扩展到区域平原水系或山脉的整体意象重构。他们的介入似乎在探索宜兰地区生活文化的母体。于是,都市与田园并非二元对立,非城非乡、亦城亦乡的模糊正有待建筑师来重新试探其新的可能性。宜兰虽然在工业化与都市化方面显得落后,但并不失母体本色,在其中更蕴含质朴的批判力量。由此而来的"批判的田园主义",宣告了当代建筑师的新挑战,也是新愿景所在。

Sheng-yuan Huang's group set up their Field Office in Yi-lan in the early 1990s.They have since practiced locally with a time-friendly mode engaged in reshaping the environment in the Yi-lan region.From the poetic tectonics of single or complex buildings and the expressionist construction in various forms,to the urban-scaled landscape integration, and eventually to an extending of restructuring waterways in the plain or mountains alongside,their interventions seem to grope into the very matrix of life-culture of the Yi-lan area.In this sense,the urban and the pastoral are not of an opposite dualism. The ambiguity pertaining to the area of urban / rural,or non-urban/non-rural is up to be redefined by architecture to render its new possibilities.The backwardness of Yi-lan,in terms of industrialization and urbanization,actually never hurts its matrix from which a simple but critical strength can be generated. A "critical pastoralism" thus elaborately announces a new challenge to contemporary architects,and also a new vision to emerge.
