Agent is widely used in the wireless sensor network. Compared with the traditional routing scheme, Agent can greatly reduce the occupation of the network bandwidth, cut down the amount of data that network nodes receive and send, and extend the lifetime of the network; besides it has good scalability and security. In the paper, Agent is introduced to be used in wireless sensor networks. An Energy-efficient Agent Routing Protocol is proposed, which can take into account such things as data aggregation, routing selection and energy saving. The simulation results show that the scheme can balance energy cost of the network nodes, and prolongs the lifetime of the network in a more efficient way.
