Interstitial lung disease is a common and severe complication of inflammatory myopathies (polymyositis and dermatomyositis). It is one of the main causes of death in these patients. This article reviews the following aspects of interstitial lung disease complicated by inflammatory myopathies, such as pathogenesis, pathologies, clinical manifestations, experimental discoveries, pulmonary function tests, pulmonary radiology,drug therapy and prognosis.
