贵州的山地、丘陵占全省总面积的97%,地形条件的限制和历史的诸多原因,使得交通十分落后,严重制约和阻碍了贵州社会经济的发展。抗战爆发后,随着国民政府迁都重庆,贵州在西南地区乃至于全国的战略地位突显出来,成为抗战的大后方。随着抗战的深入进行,贵州特有的地理条件、气候条件、人文条件、资源条件,使贵州成为全国抗战的中心之一,贵州的交通事业特别是公路事业获得了较大的发展,对贵州战时经济社会建设起到了巨大的促进作用。

The mountainous and hilly areas in Guizhou accounts for 97%of its total territory.Due to the limitation of the topographical conditions and many historical reasons,the transportation in Guizhou fell behind others for a long time.It hindered Guizhou＇s economic development seriously.After the eruption of the Anti-Japanese War,the then national government moved the capital to Chongqing.After that,the strategic position of Guizhou in the southwest region and even in the whole country stood out.It became the rear base for resistance against Japan.With the further development of the Anti -Japanese War,the unique geographical condition,the climatic condition,the humanity condition and the resource condition made Guizhou one of the national centers for Anti -Japanese War,which propelled the development of transportation in Guizhou,especially the development of road network.In this period,the development of the highway during the Anti - Japanese War has exerted great influence on its economic development at that time.
