Based on the practice of geologic prospecting in marine engineering and the experiences of data explanation,brief descriptions are given on prospecting at locations with potential catastrophic geological conditions such as sea bed scouring, shallow gas and fault and accent river course, as well as on the evaluation of the engineering geological conditions. The geological prospecting and engineering geological evaluation have a significance for knowing the ancient stratum environment,engineering geological characteristics,marine construction and marine structure, as well as for the prevention and abatement of catastrophes.
