The paper introduces and compares five methods commonly used in the research of shrub biomass estimation including plot method, mean sample timber, relative growth method, quantitative and non- destructive method. Meanwhile, it elaborates the research achievement with regard to environmental factors influencing shrub biomass and tree- measurement factors influencing biomass estimation. At last, it discusses the problems concerning variable selection, accuracy evaluation index and model selection of shrub biomass prediction.
