National protected geographic indication system is mainly used to protect the intellectual properties and breed the brand of agricultural products and foodstuffs. The protection status and development of national protected geographic indication products in China were introduced. There are 17 kinds of national protected geographic indication products in Hunan Province. According to the problems existed in present protection of national protected geographic indication products in Hunan Province, some corresponding countermeasures and developmental strategies were proposed.
