The heat transfer behaviour at various parts of a fiber drawing crucible and the heat calculation method are described in this paper. It is suggested that suitable crucible structure and proper heat insulation should be selected so as to reduce the external surface area and surface temperature of the crucible to lower the heat loss in the crucible. The heat carried away by the heat transfer at the marble feading hole and by the cooling water can be utilized effectively by some rational techniques as well.
