To make the students identify ornamental trees and shrubs more systematic and scientific and develop their ability to learn actively and think independently,the plant vegetative-organ key was applied in the teaching practice of ornamental dendrology.Furthermore,the method of compiling the key and its application was elaborated in this article.It was helpful to improve the teaching quality of ornamental dendrology and grasp the common ornamental trees and shrubs in Hainan.
