Research and demonstration conducted in East Shandong in 1999 and 2000 showed that micro-sprinkler was a very suitable irrigation system for tea gardens in mountainous areas. At average,irrigation water application were reduced about 50.3% and yield raised about 42.2% by micro-sprinkler irrigation, compared with surface irrigation. Irrigation water use efficiency also raised from 0.057 kg/m3 in surface irrigation to 0.208 kg/m3 in micro-sprinkler irrigation, a raising of 264.9%。
