The general trend of oil drilling technology is characterized by information, intelligence and automation,and ultimately achieve the goal of automated drilling.Intelligent drilling is not only Automation.Broadly speaking,it is also applying the artificial intelligence theory, methods and techniques in the process of drilling so that it will have similar characteristics or function of artificial intelligence.Presented four key technologies of intelligent drilling in details,which are intelligent computer expert system on the ground, intelligent downhole tools, downhole power device, communication network system providing a two-way high-speed data transmis-sion.Discussed on how to reform conventional drilling systems so that they are endowed with data acquisition, data transmission, data analysis, instruction execute features. At last, pointed out that the most feasible drilling system is intelligent powerdriven coiled tubing drilling system at present.This paper indicated the fight direction for intelligent drilling technology research at the moment.
