以2010年南非世界杯足球赛决赛阶段64场比赛的57个首粒进球为研究对象，运用文献资料法、录像统计法以及数理统计法进行研究得出：获得首粒进球的心理优势，对于运动员的发挥及球队的最后获胜尤为重要；首粒进球多发生在上半场O～30min，15～30min是首粒进球的高峰期；抢点直接射门得分是最主要的射门得分方式，在尚未取得进球前的进攻更加注重整体性；脚是主导足球首粒进球的最关键的部位，而且球员的优势脚多是右脚；前锋依然是各队首先得分的主要火力点，但前卫队员的首粒进球数与前锋基本持平。任意球以及角球进攻中，后卫队员的头球往往能为球队首开记录并获得胜利；中路进攻与边路进攻所取得的首粒进球数基本持平，说明在未取得进球前球队的进攻更加具有平衡性和多样性，在任何区域都能发起有效地进攻并破门得分，在运动战打不开局面时，定位球进攻越是重要，往往能起到决定性的作用。
