The characteristic of the interaction between green laser and biological tissue and the scientific basis of green laser prostatectomy were presented. The green laser treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia has evolved from an assistant tool when the power was only 38 W to an safe and effective measure when the power was higher than 80 W, and the development of green laser application on prostate was reviewed. More new clinical and experimental therapeutic application of green laser in urology and the other medical fields were provided.
