Through analysis for the working principle and performance parameters of horizontal sand mill, its operation index was confirmed. The effects of medium fill rate, charging rate and slurry viscosity on the operation index of sand mill were discussed. On account of our company' s situation, optimum process parameters of horizontal sand mill were summarized to provide the slurry with best size distribution and dispersibility for the coating.
