善于用典是《纳兰词》的一大艺术特色。对于事典的运用，有正用和反用，有明用和暗用，或影射时事，或表达思想、抒发感情，用得自然贴切，毫无生涩晦暗、枯燥乏味之感。《纳兰词》不惟用典多，且用典与词境妙合为一，产生了极佳的审美效果。
선우용전시《납란사》적일대예술특색。대우사전적운용，유정용화반용，유명용화암용，혹영사시사，혹표체사상、서발감정，용득자연첩절，호무생삽회암、고조핍미지감。《납란사》불유용전다，차용전여사경묘합위일，산생료겁가적심미효과。
Being good at using classical stories is a chief artistic feature of Nalan Xingde＇s Poems. For these classical stories, there is a distinction between positive and negative use, and cover and over employment. They can be used to either al- lude to the current affairs, or express the author＇s thoughts or feelings. And the natural adoption of these stories makes the lyrics harmonious and fresh. In addition to employment of the classic stories, these lyrics combine the stories and lyric context and hence produce the perfect aesthetic effect.
