车牌识别在智能交通及停车场管理中有着非常重要的作用。车牌识别与处理的速度直接影响到其应用场合.尤其在高速公路的快速抓拍中,对处理速度要求更高。本文避免采用复杂的图像处理算法,而改用常规图像处理技术加模版匹配算法,提出了一套简易快捷的车牌识别算法,能大大提高车牌的识别处理速度,特别适合于需要快速识别车牌的场合。本文最后采用MATLAB语言对该算法进行了实现与验证。

License plate recognition has a very important role in intelligent transportation and car park management. License plate recognition and the processing speed directly affect their applications. There is higher processing speed requirement especially in the rapid capture of the highway. This paper uses conventional image processing technique and template matching algorithm instead of the complex image processing algorithms. It proposes a set of quick and easy license plate recognition algorithm, which can greatly increase the license plate recognition processing speed, especially for the case that need to quickly identify license plate applications. At last, it uses MATLAB for the implementation of the algorithm and validation.
