2003～2005年在四川凉山彝族自治州西昌市、宁南县,对胭脂虫进行大棚养殖试验、大棚仙人掌悬挂养殖试验和野外养殖试验,结果表明大棚养殖和大棚仙人掌悬挂养殖胭脂虫效果比较好;野外养殖受气候影响较大,胭脂虫难以成活.

From 2003 to 2005, in Xichang City and Ningnan County of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Provience, the Dactylopius coccus was cultivated in a vinyl house, in a wild field, and on cacti by suspension in a vinyl house. The results show that the cultivations of D. coccus in the vinyl house and on cacti by suspension in a vinyl house are better than in the wild field. These two methods are the primary ways to cultivate D. coccus, while the cultivation of D. coccus in a wild field is influenced greatly by the temperature, and the D. coccus could not live.
