MicroRNA(miRNA)是一类大小约21~23个碱基的单链小分子非编码RNA,能够通过与靶mRNA特异性的碱基互补配对引起靶mRNA的降解或者抑制其翻译,从而对基因进行转录后表达调控.miRNAs广泛存在于动物、植物、细菌、病毒等多种生物物种中,并广泛参与了时空发育调控、细胞凋亡、肿瘤、病原体感染等多种生物学进程.近年来在昆虫研究领域,分别对不同昆虫物种的miRNA进行了鉴定与研究,该文对其研究进展作一综述.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are non-coding 21-23 nt RNAs that play important gene-regulatory roles in animals and plants. Through specific base-pairing with mRNAs, these tiny RNAs induce mRNA degradation or translational repression, or both. MiRNAs are widely distributed in various species, including animals, plants, viruses etc. , miRNAs are involved in comprehensive biological processes such as spatio-temporal regulation of development, apoptosis, cancer, viral infection etc.. MiRNAs in different insect species were identified and studied in recent years. The present paper reviews the advanced researches on miRNA in insects.
