The concept of the fatigue stress cutoff limiting is given and it is pointed out that the fatigue cracking will possibly occur in steel bridge structures only when the live load stress of repeated action is greater than the fatigue stress cutoff limiting. Totally 149 cracking examples of the steel bridge structures are analyzed and the results of the analysis demonstrate that the perfect design of the integrity and details and the good manufacturing quality are critical to the avoidance of the cracking.
