RON的激活与人体内某些上皮源性肿瘤的发生存在密切关系.在体内,RON基因主要表达于上皮细胞及食管、胃、小肠、肾脏、宫颈、皮肤、膀胱等组织和器官,在肺泡、甲状腺、心脏、平滑肌、成纤维细胞、内皮细胞中几乎没有表达.RON在其配体巨噬细胞刺激蛋白的刺激下,激活后具有调节上皮细胞扩散、转移、微管形成等功能.同时,RON本身也可以诱导细胞发生上皮一间质转化,引起细胞扩散和浸润.研究RON在肿瘤发生中的作用可以为其作为靶向药物干预治疗提供可靠的依据.

The activation of RON is associated with the development of epithelial tumours. RON isalmost exclusively expressed at variable levels in epithelial cells and esophagus, stomach, intestine, kidney, cervix, skin, bladder and others in vivo, but hardly detected in pulmonary alveoli, normal thyroid cells,heart, smooth muscle, fibroblast and endothelial cell. RON is activated by binding with macrophage stimulating protein, then it can regulate the functions of endothelial cell extension,movement and microtubule formation. Meanwhile,RON also can induce epithelial-mesenchymal transition to cause cell diffusion and infiltration. Understanding the roles of RON in cancer development should provide a basis for validating RON as a drug target for therapeutic intervention.
