汉人从明清时期就开始踏上西双版纳这片神秘而富饶的土地，从此之后，官、商、兵来此者络绎不绝。查考汉族移民西双版纳的历史，其迁移状况因历史环境的差异具有较强的阶段性特点。以迁移原因、迁移数量、迁移方式的不同，可将西双版纳的汉族移民分中华人民共和国成立之前、中华人民共和国成立后到改革开放之前、改革开放以来三个阶段进行论述。通过历史陈述，梳理汉族迁移至西双版纳的脉络，了解西双版纳汉族人口的数量和分布格局，为本课题的深人奠定基础。
