李鸿章及其淮系集团在近代机器纺织工业创办中,做了大量创始性的、卓有成效的工作。从三上《织布局折》到上海机器纺织局的草创和发展、焚毁和规复的过程,无不体现李鸿章对发展机器纺织的高瞻远瞩。李鸿章关于建设机器纺织工业而富国利民的思想,极大地促进了近代中国纺织工业的发展,促进了中国纺织业技术由传统手工业向现代机器化大生产转型,并奠定了中国近代纺织工业发展必需的人才和资本基础,促进了近现代纺织基地建设,并由此影响中国近代工业的发展。

Li Hongzhang and his Huai clique had made great fundamental contribution to the establishment of China＇s modern mechanical textile industry.It can be found from the research on his ＂Correspondence to Textile Office＂ and the progress of founding,development,burning down and restoration of Shanghai Mechanical Textile Office that Li Hongzhang had taken a broad and long-term view on developing mechanical textile industry.Li Hongzhang＇s idea about establishing mechanical textile industry to enrich the country and benefit the people had greatly improved the development of China＇s modern textile industry and promoted the transformation of China＇s textile technology from traditional handicraftship to modern mechanical productivity.Moreover,it had laid the talent and capital foundation for the development of China＇s modern textile industry and improved the construction of modern textile bases,thus significantly influenced the development of China＇s modern industry.
