A mechanical model was set up for the tunnel going through a fault fracture zone, based on which cusp catastrophe model was established by using catastrophe theory coupling with factors of underground water, system geometric parameters and medium stiffness, so as to analyze the catastrophe of stability for the tunnel going through a fault fracture zone. This also set a criterion for the disability of fault fracture zone with tunnel going through.
