A pectin methylesterase inhibitor(PMEI) gene was cloned from a cDNA library of B.platyphylla.The full cDNA length of PMEI is 946 bp when excluding the polyA tail.The open reading frame(ORF) of APX is 624 bp in length,encoding 208 amino acids;protein molecular weight is 22 486.4D,theoretical pI being 10.09.The analysis of conserved domains proves the gene contain conserved sequence of PMEI protein and belong to a member of plant PMEI superfamily.The results provide the foundation for studying molecular regulation of cell wall metabolism for B.platyphylla.
