户外广告从一个侧面代表着一个国家经济发展与社会文明的水平,已成为现代化城市人文景观的一个重要组成部分。相比其它媒体,户外广告在“时间”上拥有绝对优势,在“空间”上略处劣势——受区域视觉限制比较大。但因其具有一些不可替代的宣传特性,因而在传达效果上比其他传统形式的媒介更胜一筹,影响力更稳定。从未来发展看,户外广告是所有媒介中的常青树。
