The importance of diver detection sonar in underwater security against terrorism is discussed. Foreign diver detection sonar systems that have been made public are introduced and analyzed. The newest diver detection sonar developed jointly by two companies in China is studied and some of advanced techniques in the system are introduced. The future of diver detection sonar in underwater security against terrorism is predicted and the development trend of the technology is pointed out.
