A Blumlein pulse forming network(PFN) with 2.5 Ω impedance, 200 ns pulse width was designed with low self-inductance ceramic capacitors. The capacitors are connected by aluminium bars with a width of 2 cm, and a thickness of 0.2 cm. The theoretical calculation shows that the lead impedance between adjacent capacitors is about 3.2 mΩ while the frequency is equal to 2.5 MHz. Through the Pspice simulation, 94.92% energy transfer efficiency of the PFN can be achieved. The experimental results, generally consistent with the theoretical analysis, indicate that the voltage transfer efficiency of the PFN is close to 93 53%, and the energy efficiency is about 93.22% while the load is 2.6 Ω.
