As the wastewater from a pharmaceuticals and sugar factory did not have sufficient pretreatment, the ef-fluent quality was unable to reach second-class standard of the National Standard of Integrated Wastewater Dis-charge. After the system works normally by intensifying the pretreatment technology and transforming the unsuitable details of this project, the effluent quality can meet the designed requirements, but the cost of operation increases slightly.
