With technological developments, new requirement in rigid-body dynamics emerged. To meet this need, the quasi-variational principle of the initial value problem in rigid-body dynamics was investigated using the variational integral method. Quasi-stationary conditions for this principle were then deduced. Generalized quasi-variational principles of the initial value problem in rigid-body dynamics were also established. The approach of seeking analytical and numerical solutions of the initial value problem in rigid-body dynamics was illuminated using generalized quasi-variational principles. The advantage of the variational method was shown by dint of an example calculation.
