Microbial fuel cell technology has been becoming an attractive field with breakthrough results.The principle and characteristics of microbial fuel cell were briefly introduced with the overall review on the research progress in structure of the reactor,running conditions and electro-microorgan-ism.Furthermore,the key issues of affecting the performance of microbial fuel cell and its development prospect were presented.
