The classical methods for preparing ceramic membranes from macroporous support to microporous or dense layers, as extrusion, suspended powder method, sol-gel processes, are described. But other techniques are also used as chemical vapour deposition for dense or microporous layers, hydrothermal treatment to elaborate zeolite membranes are also described. Hollow fibres, a new configuration for ceramic membranes, are presented.
