Transcriptional targeting of gene therapy is a strategy for enhancing the specificity of gene expression to target tumor cells of interest. This targeting approach is based on the use of tissue-or tumor-specif-ic promoters(TSP) to direct the expression of therapeutic genes specifically to the tumor and not to relevant nor-mal tissue. Survivin promoter is one of the most promising promoter, which can target the tumor tissue as well as proliferating vascular endothelial cells. This article reviews the role of survivin promoter in tumor-targeting gene therapy.
