    The fundamental theories and the methods of measurement of magnetocaloric effect are described.The accuracy of these methods of the measurement is analyzed.The progress of research on materials possessing magnetocaloric effect as magnetic refrigerants are reviewed,and the suggestions how to develop the research on this area are presented.
