Lateral configurations are widely used in petrochemical,fossil and nuclear plants. Because of the sociality of the structure,the strength of vessel will be weakened more seriously by the oblique nozzle connection than by normal connections with the same geometrical parameters. The objective of this paper is to present an experimental result of the limit load and bursting test for a large opening (d/D≥0.5) cylindrical vessel with 30° lateral connection. The results will be invaluable for academic study and practical applications.
