Structure and properties of ethylene propylene diene monomer ( EPDM ) before and after filled were investigated. The results of mechanical testing showed that the tensile strength of EPDM increased as the average particle diameter became smaller, while the maximum strain before fracture of EPDM reduced. Combing the scanning electron microscopy photographs of fracture surface appearance, the specific surface area of the filler enormously increased as the average particle diameter became smaller.
