作为儒者,黄道周不乏对“仁”的见解。在对“仁”之由来的理解上,黄道周承继程朱,认为“仁”来自于天,人内心之“仁”的根据在于天地宇宙具有的道德本体;在关于求“仁”途径的分析上,黄道周秉承朱子,把“格物致知”认作是“求仁”的具体方法,要求通过“格物致知”回复到“天地之性”,从而拥有“仁”;在有关“仁”之效用的看待上,黄道周把“求仁”视为个体生命的需要,认为只有获得“仁”才能成就个体的生命价值。黄道周本人毕生行止也提供了诠释其“仁”之思想的极佳范本。

As a Confucian, Huang Daozhou had his own understanding of Ren. As to the origin of ofRen , he agreed with Cheng brothers and Zhu Xi that Ren originated from the heaven, and that the Ren in man's heart rested on ethics of the cosmos. When it comes to the approaches to Ren , Huang Daozhou inherited Zhu Xi's idea that a person could acquire Ren by "studying the phenomena of nature in order to acquire knowledge", and then backing to nature. In light of the utility ofRen , Huang Daozhou assumed that "seeking Ren " is the need for every life and that only after acquiring Ren could a person achieve his life value. Huang Daozhou's life-long conduct gives a perfect interpretation of his ideas on Ren.
