As a biomarker,copeptin is used to measure arginine vasopressin release. Recent studies show that copeptin is expected to be an ideal inflammatory marker and used for diagnosis and treatment of lower respiratory tract infection. In community-acquired pneumonia, acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other lower respiratory tract infections, blood copeptin level significantly increases and is closely related with severity and prognosiy of the diseases.
