Missile-borne SAR guidance technology is a high-tech combination of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and precision guidance technology and is an important method for improving target strike precision. In this paper, latest development of foreign SAR guidance technology is reviewed, such as FMCW SAR, mono-pulae 3D imaging radar and multi-mode composite guidance ra-dar technology, high-speed image processing, new effective algorithm, then light-weight, low power consumption are pointed out as the key fields in future precision guidance technology. Some imaging issues that sliould be solved in R&D of SAR guidance technol-ogy are analyzed. Finally, it is pointed out that missile-borne SAR guidance technology should evolve in some respects to enhance performance of precision guidance weapons and to improve the strike effect on vital hostile properties.
