Electrode materials are the key factor of electrochemical catalytic oxidation technology.They directly determine the mechanisms,pathways and effects of electrochemical degradation of phenolic compounds.The effects of eleetrochemical degradation of phenolic compounds at PbO_2 ,SnO_2and other metal oxide electrodes were summarized.The methods of improving the catalytic activity,the ways to extend the service life and the deactivation mechanisms of PbO_2 and SnO_2 electrodes were discussed.It was also proposed that the main development trend of elcetrochemical catalytic oxidation for degradation of phenolic compounds was to find inexpensive,well stable electrode materials with high oxygen evolution potential and high catalytic activity.
