The PMlo mass concentrations measured in residences of partly northern areas in China were analyzed in this paper. Results show that the rate of exceeding the Chinese National Standard (GB/T18883-2002) of PM10 mass concentration in residential houses accounts for nearly 1/3, but the rate of exceeding the ASHRAE (62-1999) is up to 87.9%. Datum collected also indicated that the average PM10 mass concentration in northern residences in China is 119.2μg/m3, and for about 60% residences, PM10 mass concentrations were between the 75μg/m3 and 165μg/m3. The main reasons causing the higher PM10 mass concentrations in northern residence are analyzed, and valuable suggestions for reducing the indoor PMl0 pollution are further given.
