This article introduced the concept and the research approach of elastic reservoir flowing unit. Taking the Chang 2 reservior of Upper Triassic in Shanbei Fuchang area as an example, the flowing units are divided according to flowing index FZI. The petrophysical characteristics of flowing units are studied on the basis of experimental data of thin section analysis, image analysis, SEM, mercury penetration and so on. The Chang 2 reservior can be divided into 5 kinds of flowing unit by flowing indexes FZI . Every kind of flowing unit has certain relationship between porosity and permeability. The result shows that the method of the classification of flowing unit with FZI is efiqcient path for the classification, evaluation and genetic analysis of reservoir.
