The installation of the miter gate for Three Gorges Permanent Lock has the characteristics of big construction difficulty, high installation accuracy requirements and many assembly parts. The technicians took the structure particularities of the Lock into account and compared many alternatives. Then they selected optimized control network and a simple and reliable installation datum point setup method. The author also describes various observation methods in the installation and construction. Viewed from the installation quality of the embedding parts of a lock-head miter gate in the completed north-side of Three Gorges Permanent Lock, such observation control scheme is strong in feasibility and strict in accuracy control.
